About Us
The year 1963, saw the birth of Machado Sons promoted by Shri. Chevalier. CIR Machado and Shri. Celestine Machado. Their Love for the sea made them carry the business of Country boat operations, Stevedoring, Steamer Agency, Clearing and Forwarding of inbound and outbound cargo from the Old Tuticorin Port. Due to the pragmatic approach of our founders, the total trade flourished. Our company and our founders were instrumental in the birth and development of the Newport of Tuticorin.
The 80s and 90s saw the all-around growth of Machado Sons and the Company developed to be the leader in the sectors of Stevedoring, Steamer Agency, and Custom House Agency.
Machado Sons was the first to popularize the containerization of Cargo in the late 80’s and this move revolutionized the way the shipments were carried in Tuticorin.
Machado Sons was made a private limited company during the year 1992 and it was during this period Shri. Vikrant Machado took charge of the company and was at the helm of activities that made Machado Sons Pvt. Ltd. the Leader of the Industry and made the brand “Machado” synchronizes with “Shipping & Customs Clearance”. Since then “Machado” has never looked back and has added Freight Forwarding, Steamer Agency Transportation, and Fumigation and Pest Control to its scope of activities.

Our Core business has been the Customs Clearance of the Inbound and Exbound Cargo through Tuticorin Sea Port & ICD Tuticorin. We are the first to introduce the systematic clearance module which provides the customer with foolproof documentation, snag-free custom clearance, smoother and safer transportation of cargo, and value for money spent on clearance.
As authorized Custom Brokers (CB) or Clearing and forwarding agents (Lic.No.: TUT 72/05), we play a vital role in Import-Export Trade, which involves the processing of documents with Customs authority, Liaison with liners, Port Trust, Transportation, Warehousing and obtaining benefits from Customs. We undertake Import Cargo Clearance, Export Cargo Clearance, Transportation of Import and export cargo, and Fumigation Services.
We are the pioneers in the field of customs clearance and we create the benchmarks for the trade to follow. We have been accredited with various laurels issued by the port.
Stevedoring
We provide break bulk / General cargo services in Tuticorin seaport. Our in-house expertise enables us to undertake handling/stevedoring of all types of bulk cargoes for export or import, be it in loose bulk, or bagged. We provide One Stop Solution by providing Unloading from vessels, Customs Clearing, Warehousing, Packing, Re-packing, Transportation, and delivery up to the last mile.
What we provide:
- Arrangement of all necessary permissions for cargo operations for export or import and proper documentation Arranging requisite cargo handling equipment, manpower, and transport
- Arranging open plots, covered godowns, and sheds as per requirement
- Vessel cargo operations for loading or discharging, ensuring speedy operations with minimum handling loss/damage
- Arranging necessary surveys as required by the client
- Arranging cargo weighed and tally records during entire operations
- Handling ship-to-shore and shore-to-ship cargo operations.
- Clearing with customs through in-house CHA for import or export
Fumigation Division
In tune with our vision of providing complete cargo solutions, we have started our PEST CONTROL DIVISION to provide fumigation services for both Export and import cargo. Our Pest Control Division has been approved by O/o plant Quarantine and Storage, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of Tamilnadu for fumigation and pest control activities. We have also got accreditation for fumigation as per ISPM Standards. Our accreditation number is 110/MB. Our Pest Control Division has been equipped with all the latest instruments and we follow the proven technology by using Methyl Bromide and Aluminum Phosphide (Phosphine) gas for its operation. We are equipped to meet a wide spectrum of requirements. Further, we have an able team of experts to handle the entire operation.
